Healthcare software and services company Egton has migrated a range of its software services onto UKCloud’s cloud platform.

Egton, part of the EMIS Group, specialises in providing back office solutions in both primary care, such as enabling patients to book appointments online, providing quick check-in and more joined up patient consultations, and in social care, ensuring social care organisations and those that they care for are able to monitor, track and record all aspects of care.

It has moved to UKCloud’s Cloud Native Infrastructure service, based on Red Hat’s OpenStack Platform.

The two  companies say they  expect the relationship to provide a flexible environment for Egton to innovate and enhance the services it brings to the healthcare market, including its range of back office, compliance and business continuity solutions, its practice management software Intradoc247, and governance, risk and compliance software TheOneView.

Egton said it had been looking for a partner organisation to help improve access to information in critical UK markets.

Edward Bellamy, Egton product director said, “UKCloud’s specialist hands-on experience in the UK healthcare sector ensured we could provide the level of enhanced security and assurance that our clients in the healthcare sector value. It’s part of our continuous commitment to offering our customers the best-performing technology.”

“It is great to see UKCloud’s investment not only in the skills to support its service levels, but also in Red Hat open source technology to provide a higher level of performance and security, rewarded in this way – both in its business and accolades,” added Colin Fisher, director, EMEA cloud service providers, Red Hat. “Innovating on Red Hat’s OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift, UKCloud has been able to directly support the needs of its public sector clients, providing performance, service and support that is award winning.”

“Being competitive on performance and price is important to us, but the really value that we provide to our customers comes from our specialist understanding both of the market that we serve and of the needs of our customers across healthcare and the public sector in the UK,” added Simon Hansford, chief executive of UKCloud.

Earlier this year, UKCloud launched a new healthcare focused division to provide an open, collaborative and UK sovereign public cloud platform supporting health and care organisations, research and life sciences and pharmaceuticals.
